Route 66: The Mother Road in

bi-monthly series begins with local architects and
experts on sustainability discussing materials and
techniques for green building and remodeling.

discussion between architects David Hertz and
Gwynne Pugh, and local solar expert Paul Scott.

Students who have a question
about an algebra equation or formulating a
thesis statement can connect to a tutor who can
walk them through finding the solution to their
problem. These tutors are available free
through Live Homework Help, accessible through
the Santa Monica Public Library. For ages 10 and
up. Co-sponsored by Tutor.com.

FC Search
(Computer Training
Room)
The FC Search database is a directory of
grantmakers and recently awarded grants for
the nonprofit sector published by the
Foundation Center, a national organization
that provides education and training about
the grantseeking process, philanthropy and
foundations in the U.S. As one of the
Foundation Center’s official Cooperating
Collections, the Library provides FC Search
on CD-ROM at all public access computers.
This class will demonstrate how to use FC
Search to identify and research potential
sources of funding for nonprofits.

Sethi, a Stanford University freshman
and the author of Game Programming
for Teens, teaches a class to
teens interested in programming their
own games.

p.m. AFI Catalog (Computer Training
Room)
A premier resource for American films
produced in collaboration with the
American Film Institute, the Catalog
provides in-depth profiles of 47,500
films produced from 1893-1970. It also
includes information on the top ten
films selected by the AFI for the last
four years. The AFI Catalog is available
in-house at the of the Library e-source
stations. The class will demonstrate how
to locate plot summaries, credits,
critical analyses and bibliographies on
your favorite films and will also
include reference to other film online
and print sources.

Parents Should Know About (Children's Activity
Room) Learn more about the many
resource available to help you help your child
with homework in this program designed for
parents, grandparents, caregivers, teachers, and
other adults working with children.
Stars of the Sea
