Preserving the Past,
Serving the Present,
Shaping the Future.

The Library Mission
The Santa Monica Public Library performs a vital role in creating, stimulating and supporting an informed, educated community. We combine outstanding resource development with exceptional service to meet the needs of each person for information, education and recreation.

Area Libraries
The Metropolitan Cooperative Library System is an association of libraries in the greater Los Angeles area which shares resources to improve library service to the residents of all participating jurisdictions. Through the Santa Monica Public Library, MCLS can help you use the resources of all member libraries, including eight million books, newspapers and other multimedia resources.
