E-Source and Online Catalog Computer Use
The
Santa Monica Public Library provides a number of
subscription databases; iBistro, the
Library's online catalog; and two local history
databases on E-Source computers in the Main and
Branch libraries.
Most E-Source databases are also
available remotely for use at home, work, or school
using your Santa Monica Public Library card number.
Look for the link to Online Databases on the Library
website at
www.smpl.org.
These databases are provided for
library users free of charge. No reservations are
required.
Use of E-Source or online catalog
computers in library facilities may
be limited to one hour when others are waiting.
The following are examples of
activities that are not permitted on E-Source
or Online Catalog computer stations:
▪
Burning or ripping
CDs. [Exception: E-Source online catalog and
database data and/or bibliographic information
may be downloaded to CDs, flash drives, or
floppy disks if the database permits
downloading.]
▪
Playing computer
games, viewing DVDs, and/or listening to
audio/music CDs.
Software tools, such
as Word and Excel, are not available on Main
Library E-Source and online catalog computer
stations at this time. Word and Excel are
available for use on the computer stations in
the Computer Commons.
