Computer Basics
Learn essential information about computer hardware and software through hands-on practice. Find out how to use a mouse and keyboard while exploring the Library homepage. Instruction will include working with windows and an introduction to computer terminology.
Email
Explore the basics of email and sign-up for a free email account. Learn to compose, send, read and reply to email. Familiarity with using a mouse, keyboard, scrollbar and web browser are necessary.
Basic Internet Searching
Find out about the Internet and the World Wide Web. Instruction will be provided on navigating a web browser, becoming familiar with the Library website and it’s resources, locating information and printing web pages. Information will be provided about evaluating sources. Experience using Windows is recommended prior to this course.
Advanced Internet Searching
For those with some experience using the Internet who may have difficulty finding exactly what they want. Find out about search engines, databases, subject guides and indexes. Learn to use these tools effectively to locate information. Assessing the merits of sources will be covered. Some experience using the Internet is needed.
Microsoft Word
Members of the class will learn how to use Microsoft Word and be introduced to the toolbar functions. Instruction will be provided on creating simple documents, editing and formatting text, spell checking and setting margins. Attendees will find out how to edit, save and print documents.
