The documentary Beautiful Simplicity: Arts & Crafts Architecture in Southern California examines the profound effects of the movement on both the physical and cultural development of Southern California in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.  The film introduces viewers to the work of a dozen notable architects who were influenced by Arts & Crafts ideals, and features over forty important structures in the Southland.

Writer Mary Frosh returns to the Library to discuss her latest anthology, Coming of Age in the 21st Century, which features stories by Sherman Alexie, Don Lee, Junot Diaz, and eighteen others.  Frosch provides cultural context to Coming of Age in the 21st Century, a stunning literary tribute to a new generation of global citizens that offers a distinctively American sense of hope.

One of the most respected progressive thinkers on the airwaves, Thom Hartmann currently hosts
The Thom Hartmann Show on Sirius XM Radio  In his newest book, Threshold: The Crisis of Western Culture, Hartmann gives a wake-up call to capitalist culture, and examines just how close we are to collapsing.  A book sale and signing will follow the event.
