On the Web:

Bond Market Association  Lots of information here. Prices and yields, tips on investing, newsletters, manuals online, tools, etc. Also includes news, conferences, and market information accessible from the main page.   

Bonds Online  A well organized site consisting primarily of links to other resources but with its own "Bond Professor" to explain terms. Most of the actual information is on other sites, but the organization makes it convenient and easy to use.

Briefing.com  The site is clearly divided into free information and information available by subscription only. Free information includes Market Comments, Quotes and Charts, Portfolios, Sector Ratings, and an Economic Calendar.

CNN Bonds  Bond rates and news from CNN's Money Magazine.

Direct Access Notes  DANs are a straight forward fixed-income security specifically designed to allow the investing public to purchase original issue corporate bonds directly from major US corporations. The site invites the user to invest but offers valuable free information such as news about GMAC SmartNotes, educational multi-media presentation on fixed income investments, the bond of the week.

Investing in Bonds  From the Bond Market Association.

SmartMoney.com Bond Investing  SmartMoney.com offers a primer on the process of developing a bond portfolio. Suggests investment strategy and offers tips for income and profit. Supplements advice with basic tools like the calculator and glossary.  Great site for beginners.

Treasury Direct  Purchase savings bonds, treasury bills, and notes directly through the Bureau of Public Debt's website; you can also open and manage your account online.

Yahoo Bond Center  Bond rates, market summary, bond tutorials, a bond glossary, and more. Also includes the latest news.

In the Library:

  • Standard & Poor's Bond Guide  
    Concise data on American corporate bonds, selected municipals, and some foreign bonds. Includes S&P quality ratings. Published monthly.
     
  • Standard & Poor's Credit Week  
    Weekly publication with ratings, trends, and outlook for fixed income securities. "Credit Watch" section indicates which issuers face a change in credit quality. Includes some statistics.

    Search for news and articles on bonds. An extensive business, company and industry database with news, articles, financial documents, rankings, company histories, industry reports, and much more. Searchable by company, industry, or article keyword.
     
  • Infotrac OneFile
    Find general articles about bonds. Infotrac is a large periodicals database featuring the full text and citations for newspaper and magazine articles; includes many financial publications.
     
  • Newsbank
    Search for full text newspaper articles on bonds and bond issuers. Consists of two databases: America’s Newspapers, which indexes the full text of the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, Christian Science Monitor, Orange County Register, San Diego Union-Tribune, USA Today, the Washington Post, and the San Francisco Chronicle from roughly 1985 to the present; and Noticias en Español, which provides full text articles in Spanish.
