Infobel.com  Good listing of international telephone books. Includes Yellow Pages, white pages, business directories, email addresses and fax listings.

Infospace  Yellow pages, white pages, government pages, city guide, public records,and more. Includes Reverse Lookup.

SMPL Reference Desk  The Reference Desk section of the Santa Monica Public Library home page features several of the directories listed below (under "Telephone Directories").

Switchboard  People, business, web sites, email. Build a custom yellow pages ad in the Ad Studio.

Superpages  Search for businesses by keyword, name, city, state, or do a map based or distance search. A great all-in-one phone book site.

WhoWhere?  Comprehensive directory plus free email, free Web page, and directory listings. From Lycos.

World Pages  "Find anything, anyone, anywhere." Search and map businesses.

The Main Library maintains a collection of current telephone directories, both white and yellow pages, for most California cities (if a directory is available) and for major cities and/or metropolitan areas of the United States. The Library does not have a collection of international telephone directories or a retrospective collection of state or national directories.

The Library does have a limited retrospective collection of Santa Monica City directories. City directories from 1899 to 1960-61 are available at the Main Library Reference Desk for most of those years.

The Main Library also subscribes to the Haines (criss-cross) directory which is a reverse look-up directory for the West Los Angeles area. The most recent copy is available at the Reference Desk. 

The Library also has a collection of company directories for business researchers. Please refer to the Companies page for a listing of company directories subdivided by category. These can be found under "Library Resources."

  Search for U.S. businesses in this extensive business database searchable by area (city, state, zip code), type of business, size of business, and other criteria. Includes many small local businesses not typically found in larger company directories.
   

• Business & Company Resource Center
  A large business, company and industry database that provides basic contact information as well as the names of executives for large public companies in the U.S., and major international companies. Search by company name.
   

• Associations Unlimited
  Provides contact information for associations and organizations of interest to the business researcher. Search by name, acronym, geography, subject. Nonprofit organizations are also included in the database - just search under "IRS Data on U.S. Nonprofit Organizations Search."
