The Consumer Action Website 

Check the Consumer Assistance Directory to find the most appropriate place to file a complaint.  Great place to find contact information for corporations, consumer organizations, trade associations, and government agencies (at all levels).  Also lists Federal Agencies where you can document a complaint against a company, organized by topic, and find a sample complaint letter.

Consumer Resource & Referral Guide 

Directory of numerous state, federal, local, and other agencies that handle consumer complaints created by the California Dept of Consumer Affairs.  Answers question such as where to file a complaint, how to file, and how to resolve a complaint.  Their Complaint Referral Table can direct you to the appropriate agency to lodge a complaint with. 

 
Airline Service Complaints
FAA: Aviation Consumer Protection 

Information about filing complaints regarding airline service with the Federal Aviation Administration.  Consumers can call, write or e-mail their complaint.

 
Businesses
Better Business Bureau 

File a complaint online against a company or charity that has treated you unfairly.  The local BBB office will contact the organization to help resolve the issue.

Santa Monica City Attorney Consumer Affairs 

For Santa Monica residents, use the Consumer Complaint Form to file a complaint against a business. 

Los Angeles County Department of Consumer Affairs 

County of Los Angeles residents can download the form to file a complaint against a business from this site. 

Los Angeles City Attorney Consumer Protection Unit 

Fraud victims in the City of Los Angeles, contact the City Attorney Community Hotline at 1-877-LA CARES.

California Attorney General 

Although the Attorney General's office does not handle individual complaints, filed complaints can be used as a basis for state legal action.

 
Internet Fraud
Internet Fraud Complaint Center 

For victims of Internet fraud, the IFCC's online complaint form provides a convenient and easy way to alert authorities of a suspected criminal or civil violation.  IFCC is a cooperative project between the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C).

 
Telephone, Radio & Television Complaints
FCC: Filing a Complaint 

File complaints with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) about "wireless and wireline telecommunications issues, cable, broadcasting and telecommunications accessibility issues."  Complaints can be filed electronically, by e-mail, by postal mail or by fax.
