Identity Theft Resource Center

This site from the ITRC nonprofit organization provides a wide range of information including legislation, consumer alerts, self-help information, scam alerts, and a "Where do I go?" section.  Also contains information in Spanish.

Identity Theft Prevention & Survival

Site created by attorney Mari Frank, who wrote Identity Theft Survival Kit.  Learn how to protect your credit and your name and what to do if you're already a victim.  Form letters included.

Annual Credit Report

Periodic reviews of your credit report can help fight identity theft.  Beginning Dec. 1, 2004 in the Western US, consumers can request a free credit report every 12 months from Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.  Reports can be requested online, by phone, or by mail.  Click on the link from the FTC's website, or type the web address "www.annualcreditreport.com" into your web browser.
