Los Angeles Superior Court
In 2000, the Superior and Municipal Courts of California merged into one unit.  The Superior Court handles Traffic, Small Claims, Family, Probate, Juvenile, Criminal, Civil, Mental Health, and Appellate cases in Los Angeles County.
Los Angeles Superior Court Locations
Find courts by name or by district.  The courthouses nearest Santa Monica are:  Santa Monica Courthouse, West Los Angeles Courthouse, and Airport Courthouse.
LACourt Online
This section of the Los Angeles Superior Court Website provides online services for paying traffic tickets, filing e-Small Claims, downloading civil case documents, check an index of criminal defendants, and get case summaries from civil, family, probate, small claims and appellate courts.
Los Angeles Superior Court Jury Information
Answers all your questions about jury duty and provided contact information.  Also provides links to jury information for federal court jury duty and general information on the California jury system.

State Courts

California Courts Online
Comprehensive site that provides Opinions, Forms, Rules of Court, and a Reference section with a large number of informative full text pamphlets on various aspects of the law and court system.  The Library Reference Collection provides the print versions of California Rules of Court: State and California Rules of Court: Federal.
California Courts Online Self-Help
Online information on free and low cost legal assistance, small claims, traffic, family law, and much more.  Website information available in Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Korean.
State Court Websites
From the National Association for State Courts.  State and municipal courts are listed by state.  Includes information on federal courts, law schools, law firms, etc.
Legal Resource Center Directory of State Courts
Plain vanilla site that provides an alphabetical list of links to states' court Websites. 

Federal Courts

Federal Courts Homepage
Maintained by the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts on behalf of the U.S. Courts, the site provides information from and about the Judicial Branch of the U.S. Government. Gives links to individual court Websites as well as a description of each type of court, forms and fees, statistics, and more.  A well-developed informational site.
 U.S. Court System 
Illustrated with a diagram of the U.S. court structure, the site describes the function of :U.S. Supreme Court, Federal Courts of Appeal, Federal District Courts, State Courts, Court of Claims, Court of Military Appeals, and Court of International Trade. Includes picture and biography of each of the current Supreme Court Justices.

Supreme Court Historical Society
Read about the history of the court and its landmark cases.  The Learning Center has information on cases involving students, women's rights, and constitutional history.  Includes information on researching the court.
Decisions of the Supreme Court
From Cornell University Law School search current and historic decisions of the supreme court.  Most recent decisions are listed on the Web page.

Landmark Supreme Court Decisions
This site was developed to provide teachers with a full range of resources and activities to support the teaching of landmark Supreme Court cases, helping students explore the key issues of each case.  The Library Reference Collection includes the print series Landmark Decisions of the Supreme Court. 

Want's Federal-State Court Directory
Ask for this useful directory at the Reference Desk.  Want's is a guide to all sorts of courts:  Supreme, Appeals, Special, etc.  It lists the Attorneys General for every state, provides diagrams of all the states' court systems, lists federal and state bar associations, and gives Internet addresses for federal court information.  Listings include officers of the court, address, telephone number, and fax number.
