Provides much more information for consumers on claims, complaints, getting
help from your HMO, and information on plans and providers. Excellent
place to start when investigating health care insurance. |
California Association of Health
Plans This trade association represents the majority of
licensed health care service plans. It provided consumer information
on different kinds of health plans, how to find and choose a health plan,
programs that are available for low-income individuals and families,
consumer rights, etc. The site also provides links to the Websites of
all the major plans. |
California Consumer Health Care Council Volunteers will help
you with problems you are having with your HMO, your health insurer, or with
other health care plans. The Council is a nonprofit, public benefit
corporation that aims to promote quality, accessibility,
affordability, and accountability in health care systems. |

The chart online is a summary of their full ratings, which require a

HealthScope HealthScope is independent public information
source provided by the Pacific Business Group on Health. Using the
Website you can find ratings for health plans, hospitals, and medical groups
in California by county. HMOs are rated in five areas including doctor
communication and service and overall plan service. |

inform patients of their right to receive quality health care and outlines
steps to take when problems arise. Includes information on how to file
complaints against health care plans and how to get HMO decisions

Patients' Bill of Rights Act of 2004 Ignore the obvious
political bias of the Website; the information is important. It
provides a summary of the bill, the text of the legislation, the text of
prior legislation also called the Patients' Bill of Rights(1999), and a side
by side comparison of the two acts. |
