CareerBuilder  Search for jobs by type or geographical location. Store your resume and create a personal search agent to track jobs for you. Get advice on how to get hired and how to handle your working life. This site offers something for everyone.

Chronicle Careers Employer Profiles  This site is a service of The Chronicle of Higher Education and provides information on academic employers who have provided in-depth profiles full of useful information for prospective candidates. The profiles may be viewed via this directory or by links from individual job postings. Browse by institution name or geographic location.  Excellent site for those seeking employment in academia.

City of Santa Monica Job Opportunities  Check current job openings or fill out an on-line job interest card with the City of Santa Monica.

Snapshots of each career include details of experience requirements, occupation requirements, worker requirements & characteristics, and occupation characteristics.

The Riley Guide  Compiled by Margaret F. Dikel, this site is a large collection of links pertaining to jobs nationwide and job related topics.

SoCalWorks  Career and economic development resource for Southern California; provides job training and placement services. Services are free; find a "one stop" career center nearest you by clicking on "One Stop Career Centers."

Southern California Job Career Helpline  Provides job postings by employers and recruiters and links to employers who have online listings of open positions as well as to recruiters, search firms, temporary and contract agencies. Also gives listings of 24-hour telephone job lines for firms without online listings and links to other job search sites.

Career InfoNet  Occupation Search for information about employment outlook, earnings, and training for a specific occupation; Geographic Profiles gives demographic information for a state; Career Resource Library to explore career interests, assess skills, and find other relevant career exploration sites; Trends page for answers to some commonly asked questions about employment outlook and earnings.

    Part of the Information Plus series, this book covers the state of the American workforce, trends in labor, workers' rights, unemployment, and other topics pertaining to labor in the U.S.
     
  • Great Jobs For Series
    Like the VGM series, this series provides information on job seeking for specific majors, such as business, art, sociology, etc. Search the catalog on "Great Jobs For" as a series to see all titles.
     
  • Occupational Outlook Handbook
    Put out by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the OOH is a nationally recognized source of career information, with detailed profiles of numerous occupations and the working conditions, outlook, earnings, etc., for each.
     
  • VGM Opportunities In Series (for a variety of occupations)
    Search the catalog on "VGM" as a keyword to see all titles, or enter a specific occupation along with "VGM," i.e., "accounting and VGM." VGM publishes numerous titles on a variety of occupations.

Cost of Living Calculator  From CNN, this calculator allows you to input your current salary and determine how it compares (in terms of groceries, housing, utilities, transportation, health care, and miscellaneous goods/services) in another city within the U.S.
